What Kinds of Food are Anti-Inflammatory

The immune system in the body is designed to attack any foreign substances – such as microbes, chemicals or even pollen from plants. The process by which this is done is called inflammation. Inflammation occasionally can help protect the body from danger. Sometimes, however, this inflammation can continue even when the body is not fighting invaders. One of the ways to combat this kind of inflammation comes not from the pharmacy but from your local fruits and vegetable store. There are foods that can help you fight inflammation, known as anti-inflammatory foods.

Foods such as tomatoes, green leafy vegetables and olive oil fall in this list of anti-inflammatory foods. Also included in this list are nuts – almonds and walnuts, fish with fat like tuna, mackerel and salmon, and fruits including but not restricted to strawberries, oranges, blueberries and cherries. Among the green leafy vegetables, spinach and kale are good options to choose. Coffee, which contains polyphenols, is good for fighting against inflammation as well. Some of the big ones are pineapple, ginger & turmeric. Turmeric especially because it contains curcumin, which has been shown to drastically reduce inflammation. Pineapple, which contain bromelain, is been shown to reduce pro inflammatory cytokines and leukocyte.

To combat levels of inflammation, try to eat a diet that is generally healthy and contains lots of foods that help to fight inflammation. Not only will your body be able to combat inflammation but your general health can improve as well, which in turn will help you to optimise your performance.
